Clemency sneaked a look at her cousin from behind the book she was reading. The train journey seemed to be neverending and the awkward silence between the pair was doing nothing to help.
Her eyes strayed to their trunks which were securely in place above them in the luggage racks.
"Robes," She said outloud realising that they were nearly there, and really, minimum contact with her cousin was best.

Russia was sitting opposite her cousin, much to her dislike. Her parents had insisted they sit together. She was bored. It was obvious Clemency idn't want to talk to her, a s he had taken refuge in a book-typical. Russia absent-mindedly played with the pink tips of her hair, twirling them round her fingers, gazing out of the window. She sighed. "When we get to Hogwarts," she began after Clemency had suggested they change into their robes. "I probably won't see you much. I doubt we'll end up in the same house."

For a split second Clemency was stung by her cousin's comment but then she saw what Russia meant, and was suddenly hopeful. To get away from Russia would mean, well it would mean an awful lot! Something like freedom proberably.
"Yes, we will be in different houses." Clemency said, smiling for the first time since they had left thier parents.
She laid the book down and got up to retrieve her robes from her trunk.
"I suppose, though," She said, "We might get classes together?"

"Well yeah," Russia scoffed, rolling her eyes. "But the classrooms are massive and you can sit with whoever you want." She could be so dumb sometimes, why didn't she think of that? "That's if you manage to make any friends of course," she laughed to herself. She supposed it was time to change into her robes now. She doubted the school would be terribly thrilled to see her enter in a navy short skirt and black plunge top. She pulled her trunk down from the compartment and began to take out hr robes.

Clemency raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. Her cousin's comments stung her sometimes, but sometimes they were just pathetic.
For Clemency, Hogwarts was a fresh start, a chance to make new friends- she wouldn't rise to her cousin's baiting and miss that chance.
Instead she smiled serenely and said "We'll see".
Her robes on, Clemency turned her attention to her somewhat wild curls and started to brush them. Self conciously, after all, she could allmost feel Russia's critical eye on them! Well maybe she was just paranoid.

"You need to sort your hair out," Russia said as she watched her attempt to tame it. "You'll scare everyone off if you look like a lion." Russia laughed to herself again. Sometimes it was fun poking fun at her cousin because she was so vulnerable and didn't often bite back.

"Yep that's right have a go at me because I don't look like you." Rimony thought bitterly as she began pulling her wild curls into something that vaguely ressembled a pony tail.
She turned to face Russia, enough was enough, time to fihgt back!
"Well at least I don't look like I've been the victim of a bubblegum jinx gone wrong. Those pink tips just scream spell damage to me!"

Russia looked back, scandalised. Who the hell did she think she was? Russia had had enough of her. She left the compartment, slamming the door violently. She was seething inside. How dare she? HOW DARE SHE? The cheek! The nerve! The pure audacity! She stomped around the train, trying to find an empty compartment, but they were all occupied. She wasn't going to just stand here in the corridor. She had to go back in and sit with her. Eugh. "I'm only coming back because there's nowhere else," she said bitterly as she entered again. She slouched back into her chair, and took out of her trunk some Gummy Gunk Gel and threw it to her. "Here." She didn't look at her. She just continued gazing idly out of the window.

Once again, Clemency's reaction was nothing but a raised eyebrow. Honestly, this was why they were so different! What an overreaction!
Predictabley Russia was back within the carriage, mumbleing something about there being nowhere else.
"Yeah" Clemency snorted inwardly, "That and the fact her trunks in here."
She turned to stare out of the window, barely registering when Russia threw something at her. It didn't matter.
She watched the jagged landscape slip past for several long minutes before a new sight came into view and all animosity was forgotton.
"Russia," She breathed, "Look!"

"Wha...Oh!" Russia sat up right, her eyes wide. They were approaching a magnificent castle, bordered by a huge glassy lake. "Wow," she breathed. The sky overhead was a gorgeous shade of light blue, with hite fluffy clouds dotted here and there. It was like the perfect setting for a fairytale fantasy. Except this wasn't fantasy-this was real. "That's amazing," she gasped to Clemency, forgetting their previous scuffle.

Clemency nodded pressing her face furthur to the glass, trying to see everything she possibly could, all at once, and remember it too!
"Home," She muttered, wondering vaguely what it would be like to have this castle as a home for the next, what was it? Seven years?
The train was slowing down.

"Well we're nearly there," Russia said quietly, savouring the sight. "I suppose after seven years of living here it won't be a s breathtaking. Might as well enjoy it now." Although she was a pureblood, she didn't know any spells, and she was eager to learn some, although her laid-back attitude refused to show it. She had her robes on and was pulling the truck back out of the compartment, ready to get off. "Well, I suppose after the sorting ceremony I might not see you so much," she said to Clemency, a slight twinge of sadness in her tone. "But we might bump into each other occassionally."

"Yeah," Clemency nodded, only a slight shift in her steady green eyes mirrored the sad note in her cousin's tone. "But we'll have to see each other from time to time, we need to keep our stories straight. You know so that our Mums think we're still best of friends. Do you really want another lecture on how important it is for family to stick together?"

"Not really," Russia replied, laughing a little. Their parents were so hyped up on 'family togetherness', so much so that Russia and Clemency were hardly apart. The train was grinding to a halt now. Russia stood up and grabbed her trunk, ready to get off. She was eager to get there and get sorted. "You coming?" she asked her cousin.

Butterflies began swarming round Clemency's stomach when she realised what her cousin was saying. Now really was the time, they were going to be sorted.
"Yes," She said, pulling her cloak around tightly and following suit.
